Clair E. Dennis of 311 Lakeview Drive Manheim died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County Mount Joy.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Raymond Earl and Helen G. Gibble Dennis. For over thirty years Clair worked as a Revenue Agent for the United States Internal Revenue Service Lancaster Office. He also was the owner and operator of the former Dennis Tax Service Manheim for fifteen years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Clair was a loving devoted husband, friend, and companion to Linda Fink Dennis and they observed their 41st wedding anniversary in February of last year. He was a graduate of the former Manheim High School and graduated from Penn State University with a bachelors degree in Accounting. He was a member of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees. Clair enjoyed working in his yard and on various home projects. His lifes focus was spending time with his family; he was very proud of his son and granddaughter.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Troy husband of Connie Hoffman Dennis of Manheim, a granddaughter, Cailee Nicole Dennis fiance of E.J. Root, a brother, Raymond husband of Sara Dennis of Marietta, Ohio, two sisters, Dottie wife of Joseph Brooks of Madison Wisconsin, and Jean Bard of Manheim. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Fay Kulp and Pat Rohrer. He will be lovingly missed by the familys yellow Labrador Retriever Alley. The family wishes to thank Donna Ort and Helen Carter Wallace for all their support and care during Clairs illness.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service from the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square Manheim on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Richard W. Connor officiating. (AT THE FAMILYS REQUEST PLEASE DRESS CASUAL FOR THE FUNERAL.) Interment is in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery Rapho Township. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
