Chris J. Gumbert, 51, of Manheim, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Born in McKeesport, he was the son of Dianna Kelley Shank of Mount Joy. He was the loving husband of Heidi M. Krause Gumbert and they just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in October. A 1984 graduate of Hempfield High School, Chris was a supervisor at Cooper Printing, New Danville. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Petersburg where he served as an usher and played softball for the church team.
Chris enjoyed coaching East Petersburg youth baseball, basketball and football. He was also a PIAA football official and was a member of the East Hempfield Republican Committee. His interests included camping, history, especially Civil War times and he loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are two children, Ty Gumbert husband of Valerie Malzone of Virginia Beach, VA, Jessica Gumbert at home and a sister, Kelley wife of Kevin Spigelmyer of Dillsburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Chad Gumbert and a sister, Jennifer Lewis.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1905 Broad Street, East Petersburg on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM. There will be a public viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Sunday from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private.
