Charlotte M. Bires, 85, of Manheim, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 28, 2016. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Francis Wesley and Olive Smith Hoffer. She was married 56 years to Richard R. “Dick” Bires who died in May of 2006. She worked as a sales clerk, retiring from the former Rettew’s Department Store, Manheim. Charlotte was a generous and devoted care giver; her life revolved around caring for others. She enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events at both Manheim Central and Manheim Township schools. A member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim, she was active in the United Methodist Women’s Group. She also enjoyed walking and was a NY Yankees fan.
Surviving are two sons, Terry L. husband of Jonita Dutt Bires of Manheim, and Larry D. Bires fiancé of Kim Wissler of Lancaster; four grandchildren, Corey husband of Anna Bires, Casey husband of Bobbi Bires, Emily wife of Garrett Betancourt and Keith husband of Samantha Bires; two great grandchildren, Savannah and Mason Bires; a sister, Joyce Hoffer wife of John Schatz of Manheim, a brother F. Kenneth husband of Cindy Hoffer of East Earl and one niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Hoffer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday evening, April 1 and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township.
