Charles V. Adams, 79, of Manheim, died peacefully in his home surrounded by the love of his family on Friday, May 30, 2014. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles V. and Olyva Pugh Adams. Charles was the loving husband of Mary Weidman Adams; they observed their 56th wedding anniversary in March of this year. With a career in sales, Charles worked for Allied Surgical Supply Company for many years and retired from Lincoln Investments. A veteran, he served in the U.S. Army. Charles was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim; other memberships included; Manheim Tennis Club; Manheim Lions Club, where he was a past president; and Manheim Historical Society. He was a 1953 graduate of Manheim Central High School and attended Elizabethtown College. Charles was happiest when surrounded by family, on the golf course and tennis court with friends, fishing with his son whenever he could, and riding and caring for the horses he had over his lifetime.
Surviving in addition to his wife Mary is a son, Dr. Van Adams, husband of Dr. Anne Adams of Lebanon, PA; a daughter, Beth Adams of Philadelphia, PA; two granddaughters: Brittany Adams Ecer, wife of Ani Ecer of Istanbul, Turkey; and Kelly Adams of New York, NY; two grandsons: Hunter Adams of Ithaca, NY; and Chad Adams of Lebanon, PA; a great granddaughter, Nora Yagmur Ecer of Istanbul, Turkey; and a sister, Olyva Liddell, wife of Edwin Liddell of Rockford, IL.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Charles’ Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance at the Salem United Methodist Church, 140 North Penn Street, Manheim, on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at 4:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township.
