Charles Elvin "Charlie" Aument, 81, formerly of Lititz, died on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Conestoga View, Lancaster. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Walter and Grace Long Aument. He was the husband of the late Lenora Cunningham Aument who died on January 19, 2011 and they celebrated 58 years of marriage on January 17, 2011. Charlie retired from Alcoa, Inc, Lancaster. He also worked at the former Yerger Brothers, now Versatek in Lititz. He attended St. John's Lutheran Church, Lancaster and he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Charlie served three years in Japan and over two years in Korea with the ASA "Shadow Warriors" 352 Recon. He earned CIB, bronze battle stars, Presidential Citation, Distinguished Unit Citation and numerous other medals. Charlie was a scout master for Boy Scout Troop 42, Lititz and he was a lifetime member of Elstonville Sportsmen Association, Manheim, Lititz VFW Post 1463 and Garden Spot American Legion Post 56, Lititz. He was also a member of the PA Roadrunners Shasta Camping Club. His interests included gardening and camping. Surviving are two sons, Gerald E. "Joe" husband of Ruth Aument of Manheim, Daniel A. Aument of Lititz, a daughter-in-law, Vicky Aument of Lititz, a daughter, Carol A. Nessinger of Manheim, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, four sisters, Betty Texter, Mildred Rittenhouse, Arlene Sangrey and Rose Falsy. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Aument Jr., a grandson, Jesse Michael Aument and a sister, Shirley Miller. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of service.
