Charles Levi Fissel passed away December 30, 2006 at age 84, and Dorothy Arnold Fissel passed away April 28, 2011 at age 88, both in San Diego, California. Charles was born in Manheim to Charles S. and Mary Devert Fissel on December 5, 1922. He was also the step-son of Lillian Nauman Fissel. Following service in the U.S. Army in World War II, Charlie earned a degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He worked for the Buildings and Furnishing Service of the YMCA for many years, and later for the Department of Human Resources of the City of New York. Dorothy was born in Manheim to Charles R. and Mae Hollinger Arnold on July 14, 1922. She attended Drexel University in Philadelphia and studied fashion design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Dottie and Charlie graduated from Manheim High School, Class of 1940. They married in 1951 and lived in New York City for over 50 years sharing a passion for art, architecture, design, music, theatre, film, dance and fashion. Charlie was an artist, plant lover and jazz enthusiast. Dottie was a gourmet cook and talented seamstress. They were wonderful and loving parents, committed life partners, and loyal, giving friends. In 2003, facing mounting health problems, Charlie and Dottie moved to San Diego to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law. Their memories are a blessing to all who knew them. Dorothy and Charles are survived by their daughter Cynthia Fissel and son-in-law Mark Glickman, of San Diego. Charles is also survived by his brother Robert of Arlington, Virginia. Dorothy is also survived by her sister Betty Lou Longenecker, wife of J. Donald Longenecker, of Lancaster and nephews Thomas and Andrew Longenecker and their families, of East Hempfield Township.
