Cecelia M. Metzler, 101, formerly of Manheim passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Abram M. and Bertha Snavely Risser. She was the wife of the late Rev. Clyde L. Metzler who died in 1974. A Pastor’s wife, Cecelia was a member of Hernley Mennonite Church, Manheim where she was a Sunday school teacher and involved with the sewing circle. She volunteered at the Manheim Nearly-Nu, Manheim Meals-on-Wheels, Mennonite Home and Landis Homes. Cecelia enjoyed playing golf, crocheting and bird-watching. She loved visiting and spending time with family and friends.
Cecelia’s family would like to thank the many caregivers at Landis Homes who cared for her over the years.
Surviving are four children, Erma R. Metzler of Lititz, Clair W. Metzler of Mount Joy, Dorcas J. wife of Glenn Martzall of New Holland, Orpha M. wife of Curtis Baker of Manheim, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eunice I. Metzler, two brothers, Thomas and Charles, and five sisters, Bessie, Anna, Catherine, Helen and Mary.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at Landis Homes Retirement Community, WEST BETHANY CHAPEL, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 10:30 AM. There will be a public viewing from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery.
