Catherine N. Witmer

Catherine N. Witmer, 91, of Willow Street, and formerly of Mount Joy, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at Arbor View " Willow Valley Retirement Community. She was the wife of Donald R. Witmer, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage last month. Born in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late Chester Resh Ney and Mary Catherine (Smith) Ney. She was a graduate of the former Mount Joy High School class of 1939. Catherine was a retired secretary for RCA of Lancaster, first as a general secretary to the C&P Lab Physicist and Engineers, and then was a secretary to the resident Patent Attorney. She and her husband enjoyed day trip travels with family and friends, and she enjoyed planting and caring for hundreds of annuals and wild flowers on their property. Surviving in addition to her husband is a sister Marion Ney wife of Henry Raver of Lancaster; two brothers Samuel S. husband of Janet Ney of Mount Joy, Kenneth C. Ney of Vienna, VA; and two sisters in-law Gladys Ney and Dolly Ney, both of Mount Joy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Donald E. and Harold W. Ney. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at Heilig Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 West Main St., Mount Joy, PA on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. There will be a time of visitation with her family on Saturday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service.
