Husband, daddy, brother, pappy, uncle, friend. He was many things to many people. Just after his 91st birthday, Carroll Rickert passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. Until then, it was not uncommon to see him holding hands lovingly with his wife of 70 years. He leaves behind a legacy of beautiful wood work, Masonic loyalty to Treichler Lodge 682, a love of nature that he passed on to all of us, faithful service to God, Navy pride with many stories from the USS Pensacola and WWII, and a family who knew him as the most honest, strong, and gentle man around.
Carroll was a member of Sell Chapel at the Masonic Village and a former member of St. Andrew’s UMC, Milton. He was also a member of Harrisburg Consistory, PA Guild of Craftsmen, and the Rooster’s Woodshop at the Masonic Village
.
Carroll owned and operated the former Rickert’s Barber Shop in Milton and later worked as a welding inspector at Milton Steel and Supply Company.
Born in Hartleton, Carroll was the son of the late Roy and Alice Hoffman Rickert. He is survived by his sweetheart and wife, Mae Barto Rickert; daughters, Nancy Bupp (Allen) and Jan Cooper (Bruce); granddaughters Megan Smith and Linell Patterson (Daniel); step granddaughters, Shauna DeLong (Christopher) and Jordan Bupp; step great grandchildren, Kendall, Cameron, and Kinsley; and sister, Shirley Wilver. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenley James Rickert; his sister, Florence Kreps; and his brother, Chet Rickert.
