 Carol E. Kurl, 75, of Lititz, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Mary Eberly Bredthauer. Carol was the loving wife of Gerald L. Kurl and they would have observed their 53rd wedding anniversary in December of this year. She was a 1967 graduate of Warwick High School, and continued her education obtaining a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University. With a passion devoted to life-long learning, education, and children; Carol was a dedicated and caring First Grade Teacher in the Manheim Township School District for over 38 years. 

 She was a faithful and active member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren, where she served as Deacons with her husband for over 33 years. Carol volunteered on many committees of the church, an original Bell Choir member, taught Children’s Sunday school, was the Treasurer for the Tree House Playground, and became the first female Moderator for the Lititz Church of the Brethren; serving for six years. Carol’s memberships included: PA State Education Association, National Education Association, Lancaster County Retired Teachers Association, and was recognized by the Pennsylvania Association of Schools Retirees with an award for “Volunteer of the Year” for her work with the Lancaster County Retired Teachers Association. Carol had a servant’s heart and was always looking to help those in need. She loved her family deeply, and cherished all the time she could spend with her husband, children, and grandchildren.

   Surviving in addition to her husband Gerry, are two sons: Andrew L. husband of Angela Kurl of Tomball, TX, Todd P. husband of Gretchen Kurl of York, five grandchildren: Erica, Annalia, Emelia, Brady, Raegan, and four sisters: Martha Garner of Lebanon, Nancy Petka of West Chester, Hettie Jean Eckert of Akron, Mary Ella Witmer of Willow Street. Preceding her in death are three brothers: Melvin Stauffer, Allen Stauffer, and Jay Stauffer.

  Relative and friends are invited to attend Carol’s Interment Service in the church memorial garden at the Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz, on Sunday November 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Immediately following the interment, all are invited to attend Carol’s Celebration of Life Service to be held in the” Family Life Center at the church”. Visitation with the family will take place immediately following Carol’s service in the “Family Life Center”.
