Carol A. Doyle, 71, of 32 West Gramby Street Manheim passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster after a lengthy illness attended by family. Born in Mount Joy, she was the eldest daughter of the late Clarence C. and Edith Gamber Bleyer. She was the wife of the late Kenneth E. Doyle who died in 2009. Carol retired as a deli manager at Weis Market, Manheim. Previously, she worked at the former Milton Fabrics Knitting Mill, Manheim and Lanco Knitting Mill, Ephrata. She was a life member of the Manheim VFW Post 5956 Ladies Auxiliary, serving for years as the corresponding secretary. Until her illness precluded her from attending, she participated in the Auxiliary's visits to injured service men at area VA hospitals. Her interests included playing bingo, crocheting, cryptogram puzzles, collecting stamps for charitable organizations and coupons for the Manheim VFW to give to the military overseas. She also had a group of friends who loved to meet weekly for breakfast and conversation. Before her illness she loved to garden and cook. Her love of family and friends was active and involved. She and Ken would often make sure that ailing friends had a way to appointments. She gave freely of her time, charity and caring to all she met. Carol also loved animals.
Surviving are two sons, Tony E. Doyle companion of Kathy Weaver of Landisville, Terry L. husband of Sandra L. Hogarth Doyle of Manheim, five grandchildren, Brandon, Adriana, Bethany, Terry Jr. TJ, Cory, five great grandchildren, two brothers, Dr. John F. husband of Victoria Bleyer of Greensburg, Michael A. husband of Margaret A. Bleyer of Lebanon, two sisters, Patricia I. wife of Robert C. Childs of Windsor and Teresa M. wife of J. Michael Eshleman of Manheim, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas J. Bleyer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 12:00 Noon. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Please note: There will be a VFW Auxiliary Service at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. Please omit flowers.
