Carl R. Hess

Carl R. Hess, 89, of Manheim passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Earl B. and Anna Hershey Hess. He was the husband of the late Martha M. Sheaffer Hess who died in 1999. Carl owned and operated farms in Penn Township and Berrysburg. He was a member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim. Carl and his wife Martha enjoyed collecting antiques

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Yoder of Columbia, Kimberly Luchynsky of Blackstone, VA, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a brother, Gerald H. husband of Carol Hess of Lititz. Also surviving is his companion, Naomi Oberholtzer of Manheim. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Frank Luchynsky.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
