Carl G. Shelly, 78, of Manheim went home to be with his Lord on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Amos and Grace Wolgemuth Shelly. He was the loving husband of Jean F. Herr Shelly and they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in May. Carl worked as a carpenter for John Ebersole of Manheim. He ministered with Christian Retreat in Haiti and Bradenton, Florida, and was director of the Women’s Residential Program for Springs of Living Waters Ministries, Manheim. Carl also worked part-time at the Manheim Auto Auction. He attended the chapel at Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community. Carl loved to spend time with his family, especially camping and trips to Disney World.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Debra L. Balmer of Syracuse, Indiana, Cheryl L. wife of Donald S. Wenger of Manheim, four grandchildren, Jon husband of Ashley Balmer, Shelley wife of David Brigham, Jillian wife of Adam Wright, Erica wife of Ryan Gerlach and seven great grandchildren, Jamison, Noah, Kolden, Randi, Avery, Myra and Jack.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Randy Balmer, two sisters, Mildred Seifert, Miriam Snavely and three brothers, Clarence, Mahlon and Emerson Shelly.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment in East Fairview Brethren Cemetery, Rapho Township. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
