C. Roger Ulmer, 89, of Lancaster, entered into his Heavenly home on Monday, May 27, 2024 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster. He was born in East Lampeter Township, the son of Clarence C. and Mabel Keiser Ulmer. He graduated from East Lampeter High School. On September 28, 1952 he married Gladys Groff and they were married for 71 years at the time of her passing on November 29, 2023.
Roger worked as a salesman for Sandoe Auto Parts for 41 years, followed by 23 years for Lehigh Valley Respiratory Care.
He was a longtime member of Hempfield Church of the Brethren and served on various committees, as well as serving as a Deacon. He thoroughly enjoyed coaching the church softball team for many years. He also volunteered for Friendship Community.
Roger and Gladys enjoyed traveling and had many wonderful memories of trips in the United States and abroad with family and friends. The highlight of his vacations was always the annual family trip to Ocean City, NJ.
He thoroughly enjoyed watching sports, but especially enjoyed attending and supporting the events of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was so happy to celebrate their accomplishments with them.
Roger is survived by four children, Cynthia K. Harnish, Susan F. Musser, Douglas R. husband of Kim Ulmer, Stevan J. husband of Jessica Ulmer. Also, twelve grandchildren: Bryan husband of Julene Harnish, Christopher husband of Bethany Harnish, Brett husband of Megan Musser, Dustin Musser, Cody Musser, Kyle Ulmer, Anthony Ulmer, Kendra wife of Landon Musser, Zachary husband of Jessica Ulmer, Rachel wife of Shawn Bishop, Nicholas Ulmer, Matthew Ulmer. Also, four step grandchildren: Matthew husband of Angelie Harnish, Emily Harnish, Andrew Potter, Ava Potter, nine great grandchildren: Chase, Aubrey, Laiken and Kellen Harnish, Joel, Elliott and Willow Harnish, Brayson and Kylie Bishop, six step grandchildren: Ethan and Connor Harnish, Cameron and Grace Musser, Mason Rafferty, Marley Martin.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents, and beloved wife; are two sons-in-law: James Musser, Richard Harnish, a grandson, Robert Ulmer, and a step grandson, Matthew Musser.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Roger’s Celebration of Life Service at East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at 3:00 PM. There will be no viewing. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service.
