Burnell S. “Nellie” Nolt Sr., 85, of Lititz, and formerly of East Petersburg, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Manheim Township, he was the son of the late Amron and Rhoda Stehman Nolt. Nellie and his brothers owned and operated Nolt Bros. Machine Shop, Ephrata, for forty years; he also was a driver for Hollenshead Auto Sales, Manheim. He was the loving husband of Shirley O. Brooks Taylor Soders Nolt and they would have observed their 19th wedding anniversary in November of this year; his first wife was the late Lucille Shenk Nolt who died in 1993. Nellie held memberships with the Germania Band Club, Manheim, Lancaster Masonic Lodge # 43, and Reading Shriners. An avid hunter, Nellie was a member of the One Acre Hunting Camp located in Potter County since 1952. He also had a passion for boating, fishing, and crabbing, and loved to travel to Craft Haven, in Perryville, Maryland.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is a daughter, Susan E. wife of Charles E. Rineer Jr. of Conestoga Center, three sons: Burnell S. Jr. husband of Dawn Sites Nolt of Mount Joy, Douglas A. husband of Toni Earhart Nolt, John H. Nolt, fiancé of Donna Mattern all of East Petersburg, three step sons: Jere Taylor fiancé of Pam Burns of Mountville, Daniel husband of Linda Dennes Taylor of Lancaster, John Taylor of New Providence, two step daughters: Cindy wife of Dan Beacham of New Providence, Doris VanZandt of Willow Street, 5 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, three brothers: Levi husband of Barbara Nolt, Gilbert husband of Grace Nolt all of Reamstown, Donald husband of Kitty Nolt of Akron, and a sister, Eleanor wife of LeRoy Dumbach of Ephrata. Preceding him in death is a sister, Clarabell Nolt, and three brothers: John Henry, David, and Herbert Nolt.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Nellie's funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM; with additional viewing time on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Chiques Brethren Cemetery, Rapho Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Nellie's memory to Hospice and Community Care, P. O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
