Brenda S. Groff Wright, 56, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. She was the loving wife of Barry L. Wright and they observed their 26th wedding anniversary in June of this year. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Jay E. and Betty L. Pennington Groff of Quarryville. Brenda fought her Breast Cancer diagnosis for 15 years with a combination of courage and grace and continues to be an inspiration to family and friends.
Brenda held various positions in the insurance industry over the years, and finished her career working at the Lancaster Harley Davidson dealership in Willow Street.
Brenda enjoyed any time spent with family and especially enjoyed her annual beach trip to Chincoteague Island, Virginia. She greatly enjoyed walking the beach to collect shells and shark’s teeth.
Surviving besides her parents and husband, are sisters: Cindy Eckman wife of Dennis Eckman, Sandy wife of Terry McGlothlin all of Quarryville. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces who were the light of her life. She will always be remembered as “Aunt B” to them all. Brenda was more than just an aunt to them; she was a mentor, confidant, surrogate mother and motivator to everyone. She will be missed by all but will continue to live in our hearts.
The family wishes to thank Hospice and Community Care for the compassionate care given to Brenda during her illness.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a service of Remembrance and Celebration of Brenda’s life at the Hempfield Church of The Brethren, Corner of Stevens Street and Metzler Road, East Petersburg, on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Doug Hinton officiating.
