Betty J. Keener, 86, of Ephrata, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Ephrata Manor. Born in Ephrata Township, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Mary Zell Enck. Betty was the loving wife of the late Robert G. Keener who died in November of 2004. For five years Betty was employed in the Maintenance Department for Luther Acres, Lititz; previously she worked as a supervisor in several garment factories for twenty-six years. She was a member of Ephrata Church of the Nazarene. Betty had a life-long passion for music and in her early years was a member of the “Nashville Traditions” a Country Western band that played throughout the Lancaster County area. For many years Betty volunteered with her husband at the Lebanon Veterans Medical Center. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds.
Surviving are two daughters: Sandra wife of Jeffrey Kipp of Leola, Barbara Witman of Manheim, a son, Perry L. husband of Deb Keener of Ephrata, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and two sisters: Esta Hoffer of Manheim, Elsie Armer of Ephrata and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are two sisters: Mary Kline, Mae Grassel, eight brothers: Jimmy, Adam, Rich, Eugene, Leon, Charles, John, and Gilbert Enck.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Betty’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 4:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 3:30 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
