Bertha M. "Bert" Himmelberger

Bertha M. "Bert" Himmelberger, 89, of Lititz, and formerly of 23 South Cedar Street, died peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Luther Acres. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Edna Stauffer Binkley. Bertha was the wife of the late John H. Himmelberger who died in April of 2007. In her early years Bertha was employed at Wilbur Chocolate Company and Alsam Shoe Factory in Lititz. Most of her life was spent as a wonderful homemaker, caring for her children and husband. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lititz, and the Lancaster Liederkranz. Bertha and her family spent many summers along the Conestoga at their family cabin. Her interests included: cooking, bingo, and card games with family members.

Surviving is a daughter, Susan M, wife of Allen W. Ney, two sons: Lewis D. Himmelberger, Michael J. husband of Michele R. Himmelberger all of Lititz, three grandchildren: Steven, Elizabeth, Katherine, and three great grandchildren; Andrew, Allison, Adam. Preceding her in death is a daughter: Jacquelin Himmelberger, two sisters: Grace Wolfskill, Carrie Shields, and her husband’s parents: Leon and Florence Himmelberger.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bertha’s memorial service at the Luther Acres Chapel, 250 St. Luke Drive, Lititz, on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 7:30 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private in Machpelah Cemetery.
