Barry L. Knight, 60, formerly of Penryn, died peacefully at home in Manheim on Monday, November 28, 2011 surrounded by his family. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Emerson L. Sr. and Alverta Rudy Knight. Barry was the loving husband of Penny J. Hippensteel Knight. He worked in the delivery department for Longenecker's Hardware Manheim. Previously, he was employed by Horst Auction Center, Ephrata; IGA Stores in Lancaster County; and in his early years was the owner and operator of the former Knight's Meats in Penryn. Barry enjoyed racing micro midget race cars and was a member and past president of Lanco Micro Midget Race Club. He was also a member of the Manheim Masonic Lodge 587. Throughout his life Barry had a passion for his family and loved spending time with his granddaughters. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Jon Knight of Manheim, a daughter, Tanya S. wife of Doug Coonan of Lititz, three granddaughters: Mariah Knight, Marlaina and Myla Coonan, and a brother, Dr. Emerson L. Jr. husband of Diane L. Knight of Harrisburg. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral at the Buch Funeral Home 21 Market Square, Manheim on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment is in Penryn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional visitation on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. On Friday evening there will a Masonic Service conducted by his lodge at 7:45 PM. Please omit flowers.
