Barry Lee Hohenwarter, 59 years young, died unexpectedly, Sunday, August 25, 2024. Born December 9,1964, he was a lifelong resident of Salunga/Landisville. He is survived by his wife, Vicki (Neese) Hohenwarter, son, Steven Hohenwarter, granddaughter, Maeve Hohenwarter, Mother, Dorothy Hohenwarter, and nephew, Michael Hohenwarter. Preceding him in death was his father, Charles (Jim) Hohenwarter, brother, Mark Hohenwarter, and sisters, Donna Hohenwarter, and Sandra (Hohenwarter) Krall.
Barry was the youngest of the family, He enjoyed the comradery of his siblings and looked forward to the family get togethers, especially playing pranks on each other. A dedicated family man, he took care of his mother, his wife and son, his extended family, and friends whenever they needed him, putting his own desires off for later. He was proud of his father’s service in the Navy during WWII and joined the Sons of the American Legion, Post 34. His perseverance and strength were clear after a 2005 motorcycle accident left him handicapped as an amputee. He worked so hard to come back from the accident. He refused to let that define him.
Barry worked hard and played hard. He was a man of many talents and there was not anything he would shy away from. Vicki and Barry spent 37 adventurous years together. They loved and supported each other. He was a motorcycle and car enthusiast. He could take a vehicle down to the frame and put it back together, from the engine work to the upholstery. Barry enjoyed NASCAR racing during the Dale Earnhart era. He participated in motorcross, winning races and riding his motorcycle, camping, and boating with his family. He enjoyed fishing down at the bay and once won a fishing tournament. He had a talent for wood working, carpentry, construction, and remodeling. A perfectionist by nature, he was not done with a project until he was satisfied with his work. Barry and his son Steven worked on many projects together. He was so proud of the man Steve has become. Barry could not wait until Maeve got bigger for them to spend time together.
Barry went to Hempfield, Willow Street, and Mount Joy Vo-techs. He attended and received numerous certifications for work that he done in later years in shipping, water treatment, and wastewater treatment. His earlier working days included catching chickens, customizing custom vans, detailing cars, carpentry work.

Remarks are at 3 pm by Pastor Dana Statler. Please bring a dish and a chair. We are asking you to share a memory of Barry by writing it down on paper to be put in a Memory Box to be read by Dana. (So, keep it clean LOL.)
