Barbara “Oma” Schatz, 91, of Mount Joy, went to be with Lord and Savior, Saturday May 21, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital, while her family was by her side. She was the widow of the late Robert E. “Pap” Schatz who passed away July 2015. Born in Muhlenberg, Germany she was the daughter of the late George and Kunigunda (Götz) Nägel. Though born in Germany she was a proud American. Oma had worked for the former Colebrook Terry Manufacturing as a machine operator. She was a faithful member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church of Mount Joy, and was also a member of the Lancaster Liederkranz Club of Manheim. Her other interest included pinochle and gardening.
Surviving is a son in-law Robert E. Miller, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Marie L. Miller and a son Robert Lee Schatz.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 27 E. Main St. Mount Joy, (please use rear entrance) on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 1:30 PM. Interment will be in Mount Joy Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Friday at the church from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the service.
