Barbara A. Brosey

Barbara A. Brosey, 79, formerly of Manheim, died peacefully, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown where she was residing. She was the widow of the late James R. Brosey, JR. who died in 2004. Born in Lancaster she was the daughter of the late John C. and Meda (Koehler) Blanck. Barbara was the former Executive Director of the Manheim Community Library for 24 years before retiring in 2005. Previous employment was as a teacher for Manheim Central School District at the Burgard Elementary School. She was a graduate of the former Millersville State Teachers College. Barbara was a faithful member of Jerusalem Church, Manheim (Penryn) where she was the director of the vocal and hand bell choirs for many years. Her faith was foundational to her life. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Manheim. Barbara was an avid reader, bridge player, and enjoyed camping and going to the beach. She was also a faithful volunteer at the Nearly-Nu Shop in Manheim. Relationships were important to Barbara. She cherished her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with both. When Barbara gave her heart and her commitment to people or causes she gave completely, willingly and with joy.
Surviving are three children Gregory S. husband of Judi (Smith) Brosey, Lancaster, Karen L. wife of Bruce V. Becker, Jr., Manheim, Stuart A. Brosey, Elizabethtown; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a brother, John I. husband of Carol Blanck, Manheim.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Jerusalem Church, 1620 Newport Road, Manheim, on Wednesday August 23, 2017 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Penryn Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with the family at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.
