Arlene A. "Cookie" Wilkes

   Arlene A. “Cookie” Wilkes, 81, of Lititz; died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 14, 2023. Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late Stanley E. and Albina Tenczar Jakan. Arlene was the loving wife of Dennis K. Wilkes and they observed their 45^th wedding anniversary in May of this year. For many years Arlene was an office worker for many local banks in Lancaster County; she then was employed in the office at the Manheim Auto Auction for 15 years, until her retirement. She was an active and faithful member of St. James Catholic Church, Lititz. Over the years Arlene and Dennis spent many winter months as “Snow Birds” traveling in their R.V. to Naples, and Fort Myers, Florida. Arlene’s interests included: dogs, knitting, flower gardening, following NASCAR and Major League Baseball. She was a passionate Bingo Player.

  Surviving in addition to her husband, Dennis, are three sons: Edward Bowman of Richboro, Timothy husband of Debbie Wilkes of Oviedo, FL, Michael husband of Rita Wilkes of Yardville, NJ, a daughter, Jennifer wife of Bruce Anson of Trenton, NJ, grandchildren: Breanne Weidle wife of Joseph Weidle, Timothy Wilkes, David Wilkes, Michael Wilkes, a great granddaughter, Emily Weidle, and two brothers: Edward Jakan of Broomfield, CT, Dennis Jakan of Sanford, ME. Preceding her in death is a daughter, Susan Bowman, a brother, Walter Jakan and a great grand daughter Olivia Weidle. 

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Witness Park Cemetery, Lititz. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Arlene’s memory to: Serenity Hospice of PA, 205 Granite Run Drive, Suite 210, Lancaster, PA 17601.
