Anna E. Graybill, 95, of Martinsburg, and formerly of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Homewood at Martinsburg. Born in Penn Township, she was the daughter of the late Jacob R. and Edna Spahr Carper. Anna was the loving wife of Mahlon H. Graybill who died in July of 1973. She and her husband were the owners of the former Graybill’s Dairy Inc. located in Penn Township. In 1944 Anna graduated from Millersville State Teacher’s College with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught Health/Physical Education and Spelling at the Lafayette Elementary School in Lancaster. Anna was an active and faithful member of the East Fairview Church of the Brethren, Manheim, where she served as a life-long deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and Bible School Director. She helped with the Lancaster County Council of Churches with the Widows Support Group. Anna had a true servant’s heart and was committed to helping her local community by serving on the board for the Nearly-Nu Thrift Shop, Manheim, volunteering for Meals-On-Wheels for the Manheim area, and being involved with the Manheim Historical Society. She enjoyed reading, and watching all types of sporting events. Anna’s true passion was her family. She was known to encourage everyone she came in contact with, and was the embodiment of Christian love and grace.
Surviving are three sons: Larry C. husband of Sharon Graybill of Woodbury, Dean C. husband of Claire Graybill of Vienna, VA., Roger C. Graybill of Boston MA., five grandchildren: Emily Yeatts, Dr. Michael Graybill, Philip Graybill, Nicholas Graybill, Antonio Graybill, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is a sister, Edith Carper, and three brothers: Harry, Clarence, and Wilbert Carper.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Anna’s funeral service at the East Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim, on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Sunday, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with additional viewing time at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
