Alvin DeLong Jr.

Alvin DeLong Jr., 90, of Manheim, died unexpectedly at home of natural causes on Friday, April 1, 2011. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Alvin Sr. and Lizzie Litzenberger DeLong. Al served in the United States Air Force; he worked for over 47 years for the Fuller Company in Manheim. He was the husband of the late Hilda Brosey DeLong who died in November of 1986. His interests included vegetable gardening, hunting, and trapping. Surviving is a daughter, Cheryl L. Stoltzfus of Manheim, a son, Ron G. husband of Mary Ann DeLong of Shippensburg, four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. He will be lovingly missed by a companion, Treba W. Ruhl. Preceding him in death is a son, Tom DeLong, four brothers, and four sisters. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his graveside service at the Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, 746 Lebanon Road, Manheim, on Monday morning, April 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Al's memory to the Humane League of Lancaster County 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
