Almeda R Hess

Almeda R. Hess, 100, formerly of Mount Joy passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in Rapho Township, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Emma Snavely Ruhl. She was the loving wife of the late Miller M. Hess who died in 1987. Almeda was a member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church and was involved with the sewing circle. She was a 1932 graduate of the former Mount Joy High School. Almeda and her late husband raised celery, cantaloupes and sugar peas on their farm in Mount Joy Township. She was an avid quilter and loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving are five daughters, Arlene Trimmer of Elizabethtown, JoAnn wife of Earl Zimmerman of Mount Joy, Anna Mary wife of Walter Glazewski of S.D., Janet Hess Nerling wife of Joe Nerling of N.M., Carole wife of Nick Farrow of N.M., ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Tyler Trimmer, two brothers and three sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service at Landis Homes Retirement Community, WEST BETHANY CHAPEL, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service. Interment will be private at Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery, East Donegal Township.
