Alice L. Bateman, 97, of New Holland, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Garden Spot Village. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Caroline Foehl Hibshman. She was the loving wife of the late Louis C. Bateman who went home in October of 2004. For many years Alice worked in the administrative offices for the Dupont Corporation. Alice and Lou were very active at Collingdale Gospel Chapel until they moved to New Holland where they attended Monterey Gospel Chapel. Lou and Alice were dedicated supporters of the Delaware County Christian School where both Scott and Louise attended. Alice loved doing projects that helped and encouraged missionaries serving in other countries, reading, sewing and doing puzzles. Mom loved living in Garden Spot Village, had many good friends, and so appreciated and loved all the staff that cared for her.
She loved her family and cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Alice is survived by her son, Scott, husband of Ruth Bateman, her daughter, Louise Bateman, her granddaughter, Kristen Ruth wife of Derek Richards, two great grandchildren, Hunter and Willow and her sister, Jean Crozier. Preceding her in death are two sisters, Mildred Sanso and Betty Miller, and a brother, Samuel Hibshman.
A service for Alice will be held at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with light refreshments afterwards and time to visit with family.
