Alice K. Keller Stoner

Alice K. Keller Stoner, 83, formerly of Mount Joy, died unexpectedly but peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Brethren Village. Born in Buffalo Springs, Lebanon County, she was the daughter of the late Christian B. and Ethel A. King Keller. Alice was the loving wife of Reverend Samuel H. Stoner. In 1991 Alice retired from the Lancaster General Hospital where she worked as a registered nurse for over 41 years; spending the majority of her nursing career serving in the operating suites of the hospital. She was an active and faithful member of the Florin Church of the Brethren. Alice was a graduate of the Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of the Lancaster General Nurse’s Association and the Hospital Auxiliary. Following retirement she also volunteered for the Lancaster General Hospital, Brethren Village, and as a nurse for Camp Swatara for many years. Her memberships included the Brethren Village Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women’s Club, and the Christian Women’s Club all of Mount Joy. Alice loved reading and counted cross stitch. She had an extensive card ministry throughout her life sending encouraging notes to people near and far. Alice had a life-long passion for helping people; and she was known for visiting and welcoming every new member that moved to Brethren Village over the years.
Surviving is a brother, Harold K. husband of Helen Eberly Keller of Brethren Village, five nieces and 2 nephews to whom she was very close to: Peggy Crowl, Patsy Hoffer, Judy Beiler, Timothy Keller, Joette Peters, Amy Wells and Matthew Keller, many great and great-great nieces and nephews, and three step sons: John, Stephen, and Timothy Stoner. Preceding her in death are two brothers: Galen K., Christian B. Keller and a nephew Harold Keith Keller.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:30 AM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Heidelberg Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Myerstown. There will be a viewing at the Chapel on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Alice’s memory to the Brethren Village Chapel Fund, 3001 Lititz Pike, P. O. Box 5093, Lancaster, PA 17606.
