Alice Bryan Hondru, 90, formerly of North Plainfield and Mountainside N.J., died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Shanghai China, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. Jr. and Gladys Parker Bryan. Alice was employed as a Home Economics Teacher for Millburn High School in Millburn, N.J. She was the loving wife of the late Christopher E. Hondru who died in March of 2007. Alice graduated from Texas Womans University in Denton, Texas; and was a member of the New Jersey State Teachers Association. Alice was known for her painting especially in the oils and watercolor medium. She also enjoyed portrait sketching and was a member of the New Jersey Arts Council. Alices other interests were sewing, knitting, and fast cars.
Surviving are two sons, Bryan C. husband of Joyce Harris Hondru of Pittsburgh, Peter J. husband of Susan Peterson Hondru of Manheim, seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a brother, Kedar Bryan and a sister, Margarette Lampe.
