Abram W. Longenecker Jr., 91, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Abram W. and Alice Wunderlich Longenecker. Abram lived many years on Hossler Road, Manheim, prior to his move to Pleasant View. He was the husband of the late Marguerite Shirey Kunselman Longenecker. Abram’s first wife was the late R. Aldine Miller Longenecker. For many years Abram worked for the Fuller Company in Manheim. He was a member of Lake View Bible Church, Manheim, where he was active with the Men’s Bible Class. Abram’s interests included: cooking, baking, gardening, being outdoors, working in his orchard, tinkering, and playing the card game of Hasenpfeffer.
Surviving are two daughters: Karen A. wife of Kenneth Summers of Mount Joy, Carol A. wife of Edward Petrow of Glenmoore, a son, Gerald W. husband of Jane Longenecker of Harrisburg, four grandchildren: Kathryn Longenecker, Erin Longenecker, James Longenecker, Emily wife of Ben Hoover, a brother, J. Harold Longenecker of Manheim, and three sisters: Fern Groff of Manheim, Janet Flack of Harrisburg, and Joyce wife of Kenneth Smeltzer of Manheim.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Abram’s funeral service in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing in the Hoffer Auditorium on Tuesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
