Abner B. “Ab” Nauman, 93, formerly of Hossler Road, Manheim passed away peacefully from this life into the next on Monday, May 2, 2016 at the United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in East Hempfield Township, he was the son of the late Romanus M. and Fannie G. Baker Nauman. He was the husband of the late Eleanor G. Dyer Nauman who died in 2015.
A lifelong carpenter, Ab worked for J.G. Baker & Sons, Roy Keener and Mel Martin all of Manheim. He proudly served as Corporal in the United States Army during WW II in the South Pacific where he received medals and a Bronze Star.
Ab was an active and faithful member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim where he served as a Trustee, Communion Steward, and on the visiting committee and church administrative board. Ab was a former member of the Manheim Historical Society. Ab enjoyed woodworking, bowling and he loved to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed sitting on his porch and waving to those who drove by his house.
Surviving are two daughters, Kay Y. Myer, Gwen M. Groff both of Manheim, two sons, Jay Leon husband of Diana Wakefield Nauman of Lancaster, Duane M. Nauman of Manheim, four grandchildren, Abby and Gavin Myer, Brandy and Jeremy Nauman, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a sister, Miriam Kready of Myerstown and two brothers, Paul Nauman of Manheim and J. Richard husband of Lucetta Nauman of Penn Yan, New York. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Justin and Devin Nauman, two sons-in-law, Jay Myer and Randolph “Randy” Groff, a sister, Naomi Bricker and four brothers, Omar, Romanus Jr., Eugene and Lester Nauman.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM. There will be a public viewing at the church on Thursday evening from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM and again on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
